It's easy to think of goals like ‘run a half marathon’, or ‘stop eating sugar’, but without utilizing the “smart” guidelines it is easy for your goals to fall to the back burner or not get accomplished. This is due to the simple reason that you may not have a specific plan of action in place, and this is where setting “smart” goals comes in.
"SMART" is an acronym that helps you set realistic and achievable goals. This detailed plan helps you prioritize and balance your personal or professional goals with your busy life. Setting “smart” goals helps you break down something that seems like an enormous task into little steps that help you climb the ladder into making big life changes. Focus on the journey and celebrate your victories as you continue to push for your end goal.
Specific: your goal should be clear and concise, so you are motivated to achieve it.
Measurable: make your goal into something quantifiable so you can track your progress.
Attainable: Be ambitious with your goals, but make you have the tools/ resources needed to accomplish the goal.
Relevant: Prioritize your goals and make sure they fit into your life and are something that’s important to you.
Time Specific: Set deadlines for yourself and make sure you track them along the way.
